I've seen 9th kup students successfully attempt board breaks, but generally breaking is not started until senior belts, 4th kup and above. You are not allowed to compete. I always disliked karate championships because of that "any touch counts a point" thing. The fact that they form little cliques and attack anyone who disagrees is exactly the kind of bullying that many of us teach our students to defend against.
Or if you enjoy Krav, take what youre learning with a high level of scrutiny. Similarly, newly signed up practitioners may be a bit out of shape.
